Through the many lessons of this journey, I discovered the depth of my own resilience—the ability to navigate storms, shoulder responsibilities and move forward, drawing strength from the enduring legacies of two remarkable women.
There was so much change in such a short amount of time. My mother suffered a stroke, losing her ability to read, write, talk or walk. It was heartbreaking to see such a strong woman go through this. However, it became my mission to take care of her and make her as comfortable as possible. I was lucky enough to bring her into my home and surround her with as much love and support as possible.
My mother, Bonnie, has always been a strong woman. Growing up, we were quite poor, but she and my father never lost hope. My parents were entrepreneurs, teaching me anything was achievable if you worked hard enough and were persistent.
My mother met an agent, Marjorie Noakes, at an open house. Soon after, Margie became our family REALTOR® and my mother’s best friend. I was around 23 years old when my mother had the idea of getting us in touch with the possibility of working together. Instantly, Margie became my mentor and second mother. She introduced me to the industry and helped me become the agent I am today. Margie showed me just how impactful we can be as REALTORS® in assisting others with some of the largest, most meaningful decisions they will ever make. I found a fulfilling career serving and caring for people. I felt lucky to have two very strong women to look up to as mothers, successful professionals and all-around loving and caring individuals.
When I got married to Chris, I kept my last name, Dassinger, because I had built a strong reputation with my name, though I also answer to Cindy Dassinger Vasilas. We were so excited to start a family, but unfortunately, we faced continuous challenges with infertility. It was devastating. Thankfully, doctors were able to help, and after many years of trying, we were able to grow our family. One after another, we had three children, Eviana, Melina and Evander, fulfilling our dream of becoming parents.
It was during the process of growing our family that my mother suffered her stroke. As a new mom myself, I struggled to find a balance between caring for our young children, managing my career and tending to my mom’s needs. The emotional toll was immense. There were moments of profound exhaustion where the weight of responsibility felt too heavy to bear. During this tumultuous time, my husband was incredibly supportive, truly serving as my rock through it all. He provided a sense of stability during the storm.
In 2018, my mother passed away. Amidst the grief, I was grateful to have had so much time with her in the months leading up to this. The void left by her absence was profound, a silent ache that echoed through every facet of my life.
Shortly after, Margie retired and relocated, handing off the brokerage to me—my mother and my mentor were no longer physically present. Their collective guidance and support had been the bedrock of my success, and their absence left an unmistakable void.
My mother and Margie’s teachings, the resilience they embodied and the unwavering support they offered continue to echo through my life. Their legacy became my guiding light, illuminating the path forward during the darkest moments.
Today, I’m proud to have entered this new chapter with confidence, knowing I can be an amazing mother, wife and broker/owner. My life revolves around amazing people, doing my best to help and serve them. Whether it is my family, my friends or my clients, I will always strive to be a positive force in the world.
Real estate isn't just a career for me; it's a genuine passion that has fueled me and filled my cup for over two decades. What began as a serendipitous entry into the field at the age of 23 has evolved into a lifelong commitment to helping individuals and families find not just houses, but homes where memories are made and futures are built. Guiding clients through the intricate process of buying or selling a property, witnessing their joy at closing and being a trusted confidante in major life decisions brings me immense satisfaction. Even when unexpected challenges arise, I pride myself on being a problem-solver, helping my clients navigate every aspect of the process.
For me, real estate is about understanding the dreams and aspirations woven into each client's unique story. This is a people business. Whether it's a first-time buyer embarking on homeownership or a seasoned seller transitioning to a new chapter, I approach every interaction with genuine excitement and dedication. The dynamic nature of the industry, the ever-evolving market trends and the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives are the driving forces behind my enduring passion for real estate.
Sincerely,
